Water-to-binder calculator

Check the mass ratio and see exactly which constituents are included.

Masses on the same basis

Use water after the moisture and absorption corrections required for your calculation.

Water-to-binder ratio

0.444

kg water / kg total binder · dimensionless

160 kg water360 kg binder
= w/b
Water-to-cement ratio: 0.571

SCMs represent 22.2% of total binder mass.

Calculation basis

w/b = water ÷ (cement + SCMs)   w/c = water ÷ cement

Use all masses per batch or all masses per cubic metre. Do not mix the two bases. Total binder must be greater than zero. With zero cement and a positive SCM mass, w/b is shown and w/c is undefined.

For this tool, binder means the entered cement and SCM masses. Apply the definitions and water corrections in your governing specification for project decisions. The ratio alone does not predict strength, durability, or compliance.
